Job Description
- To ensure that the arrival and departure of children is properly recorded and monitored
- To encourage, lead and support the After School Care Assistant to provide a safe, stimulating environment for the children, with creative and appropriate play opportunities
- To supervise all activities in the care provision
- To ensure the safety of all those children at the care in the event of a fire, fire drill or other emergency
- To ensure and contribute to the smooth and efficient operation of the care provision
- To take part in the day to day administration, record keeping, ordering and purchasing of materials and equipment
- To plan and prepare activities
- To work towards providing equal opportunities in all aspects of the work and abiding by agreed policies
- To act in a responsible manner towards children at all times
- To be responsible with other team members for ensuring that play materials and equipment are properly used, maintained and stored and for reporting any worn or damaged materials to the Head teacher or nominated member of the Senior Leadership Team.
- To encourage the staff towards improving performance as appropriate
- To arrange and supervise the hygienic provision of light tea/refreshments for the children, recognising the principles of a balanced diet and the requirements of varied cultural and ethnic backgrounds
- To supervise the cleaning and ensure that the areas used by the club are left tidy and clean
- If qualified, administer or supervise any first aid as required and appropriate
- To record or supervise the recording of any accidents/incidents in the accident book
- To liaise with parents and others to promote goodwill towards the provision, its efficient operation and its effective marketing
- To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Head teacher or nominated member of the Senior Leadership team.
Qualifications & Experience
- NVQ Level 2 in Early Years / Play-work / Teaching Assistant or equivalent (desirable not essential)
- First Aid Certificate (or willingness to acquire)
- Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to acquire)
- Experience of working with children of relevant age (desirable not essential)
- Experience of working with children who may have additional needs (desirable not essential)
- The ability to encourage and inspire young people
- Good organisational skills
- The ability to use own initiative
- The ability to work in a flexible way
